For some reason, the previous layout design has some major compatibility issues with firefox and internet explorer 8.0. A friend commented that the words are blocked and unreadable on her screen.
I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 and the site looked normal. But when I viewed the site with Firefox, the google ads actually appeared on the left hand side of the screen, floating like a zombie in the middle of nowhere!
Also the grey coloured mat tiles looked perfectly okay on my standard size laptop monitor. I have realised it looked a bit funny when viewed using a high res computer at a friend’s house.
I decided to switch back to the default theme and modify whatever I can. For those who are unfamiliar with Wordpress, we have two themes pre-installed (default and classic). The one which I was using was an additional skin which I have downloaded from somewhere and did some tweaking.
Hopefully, this solves the problem once and for all. Who knows when Internet Explorer comes up with a version 9 and my website becomes completely un-viewable!
Eversince I have upgraded wordpress to 2.7.1, I am having problems editing my posts. The older version of wordpress had some intrinsic problems and I don’t want to be an old hat not moving with the times. I thought my problems would be solved by “upgrading” to a more stable version. It was an easy upgrading process – deleting and replacing the new files.
Now, I have this problem that I cannot edit my posts after I click published.
The error:

There’s plenty of mosquitoes nowadays, and I can’t sit still here to google the solution.
Another day perhaps.
Afterword: The error only occurs for one affected post. I have decided to ignore error instead.
I think it is taking forever for me to finish doing this website. Last week, the comment box is straddling across the whole page and I spent close to one hour trying to figure out what went wrong. In the end, I gave up and pluck comment.php from another design template into this. Till this date, I have not attempted to test the comment box to see if it is working. These PHP codes get a bit haywire when you copy from somewhere else.
The dell lappie is running too slow with the new programs which I have installed. The new Asus notebook is even worst – it cannot logon because it is running on Linux. SingNet does not support Linux but Wireless@SG does. I see the only way to surf on my Asus is to lug it to a shopping mall to log on to free network. We are considering the following 3 options;
1) Post on hardwarezone forums and pray that a good samaritarian gives us good advice on how to log on
2) Get an external CD/DVD ROM to install Windows XP – so Linux you must go. But we don’t have both the software and hardware for this option.
3) Get a wireless modem. I am not sure if this will help.
A laptop which cannot surf the internet is akin to a tiger with a toothless grin…
p/s: The above problem has been fixed. We got a Linksys wireless router and managed to log on after I spent an entire Sunday afternoon talking to the Linksys customer service officer. It’s complicated.
